We are less than 75 miles from the finish! This is always a bittersweet moment for me - anticipating the creature comforts of land but dreading the thought of stepping off of our little world on the sea. At least we are reaching landfall in paradise. I am looking forward to the traditional race-finish-Mai Tai, followed by cold beers, fresh tropical fruit, a shower, a good sleep, and sharing sea tales with our competitors. We are irritable from exhaustion, dehydrated, giddy from sleep deprivation, bruised and battered. Each squall and gear failure seemed to chip away at the strong resolve we once had in San Francisco. Not once, however, did one of us step down from the challenges that the sea threw at us. Although we are near the finish, we are still giving our 110% and still smiling. I'm going to miss spending every moment (high and low) with my 4 crewmates. Maybe we'll just keep on going towards Fiji! Peace Out and Aloooooha! Bagley (title credit: Dave Matthews Band)
