THURsDAY: Fasten Your Seatbelt, It's Going to Be a Bumpy Night . . .

For the last three days/nights, we have had very little sleep. We hit high winds (up to 40 or so knots true) and steep, confused swells, and occasional squalls. We have been taking advantage of the high winds and haulin' the mail. Jack hit a boat speed record of 17.3 and I hit 14.7. Travis, no doubt, is just not reporting his high scores. The boat is quite bouncy, making sleeping and cooking difficult.

Due to repeated nightly gear failure (taped spinnaker sheet shackles opened without permission and a gift wrapped kite, we have had some set backs. When offshore, that's how it always seems- with these amazing highs (boat speed, blue water, beautiful skies, great crew), the lows always seem to sneak in. Sleep deprivation also makes it harder to cope with set backs.

But, we did catch a beautiful Mahi Mahi and Mark made some awesome fish tacos for dinner. This definitely reduced the crew zombie factor.
